Gulmarg, Dec 31 (KNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, on Wednesday said that elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been put in place in Gulmarg to ensure safe and peaceful New Year celebrations amid a heavy tourist rush.
Talking to KNS, during his visit to the famed tourist destination, the SSP extended New Year greetings to the people, saying he hopes the coming year brings happiness and prosperity, particularly for the residents of Baramulla and Kashmir.
He said that security measures have been significantly strengthened ahead of the festivities. “For the past one month, sanitisation and coordinated search operations have been carried out, and deployment has been doubled to maintain law and order.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He further informed that more than 4,500 service providers operating in Gulmarg have been verified as part of the security exercise. Adequate traffic management plans are also in place to ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion, he said.
“We are fully prepared and expect peaceful New Year celebrations. Strict vigil is being maintained to prevent any mischief and ensure the safety of tourists and locals alike,” the SSP said.
He urged tourists and locals to celebrate responsibly and strictly follow traffic advisories, especially in view of the forecast snowfall. “People should drive carefully and cooperate with the authorities to avoid inconvenience,” he added.(KNS)
