Director Horticulture Kashmir visits Kupwara: Inspects various on-going works

Kupwara, Mar 16 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, on Saturday visited District Kupwara and inspected various on-going works undertaken by the department under various GoI-sponsored as well as state-sponsored schemes.
Ajaz Ahmad visited Base Station Chogal, where he inspected Fruit Plant Nursery, farmers training centre, He instructed for ensuring the execution of quality work. He also visited Fruit Plant Nursery, Guloora, inspected walnut grafting and exhorted the nursery staff to work with zeal.
Director also visited canning Center Handwara where he interacted with the trainees of Skill development programme under Transformation of Aspirational District (TAD).
Later the director convened the meeting of HDOs and other officials of the department at District Horticulture office. It was informed in the meeting by Chief Horticulture Officer Kupwara, Zahoor Ahmad that, under Aspirational District Programme, about 5000 high density plants were distributed free among the farmers of the district and the target of 10000 will be achieved within the stipulated time frame.
On the occasion Director impressed upon all the officers to mobilise their field functionaries and nursery staff for awareness of farmers and to strengthen the potential of developmental nurseries for production of quality plant material. (KNS)
