Pulwama, Sep 10 (KNS): A day-long orientation-cum-hand-holding programme on the Digital Holistic Progress Card (Digital HPC) was launched at Government Higher Secondary School, Lurgam, marking the beginning of the district-wide rollout of the initiative across all eight educational zones of Pulwama.

The programme was organised under the guidance of the Director School Education, Kashmir and Chief Education Officer, Pulwama, in pursuance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Chief Education Officer Pulwama Anjum Raja, who kick-started the programme, said Digital HPC was aimed at transforming assessment practices in schools and providing a comprehensive understanding of a learner’s development, competencies, learning progress, strengths and areas requiring support.

Addressing participating teachers designated as School Administrators, Raja said the initiative would help move the education system beyond conventional examination-oriented assessment towards a holistic, competency-based, continuous and learner-centred approach in line with NEP 2020.

She urged teachers to adopt the Digital HPC system positively and ensure that its implementation translates into meaningful classroom-level practices.

Ghulam Rasool Naik, Cluster Head, Government HSS Lurgam, welcomed the participating School Administrators and stressed collective participation and cooperation for the successful implementation of the initiative.

The day-long programme familiarised participants with the concept, significance, operational framework and practical implementation of Digital HPC, with sessions covering user registration, student registration, portal navigation and assessment-related processes.

School Administrators and designated support administrators were also registered on the portal and oriented about its basic structure and operational features, with emphasis on accurate data entry and timely registration.

The second technical-cum-academic session was conducted by Nazir Ahmad Najar, Senior Lecturer, Government GHSS Khrew. He explained different dimensions of the Holistic Progress Card and highlighted the importance of assessing learners beyond academic achievement.

The final hands-on session was conducted by Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Senior Academic Officer, SCERT Kashmir Division, who provided step-by-step guidance on student registration, portal navigation and student assessment through the Digital HPC platform.

Participants were given an opportunity to operate the portal themselves and raise technical and operational queries during the session.

The programme witnessed active participation from School Administrators, who appreciated the practical and interactive nature of the training and said it helped improve their familiarity and preparedness for implementing Digital HPC in their respective schools.

The programme was supported by the IMW wing of the CEO’s Office, Pulwama, with Gawhar Ahmad Wani and Manzoor Abdullah associated with the initiative. Technical support was provided by Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of HSS Koil.

Officials said the initiative would help translate the vision of NEP 2020 into classroom-level practices and establish a more holistic, competency-based, continuous and learner-centred assessment system across schools in Pulwama.(KNS)
