Devyani Rana Launches ‘Gau Shakti’ Organic Floor Cleaner to Empower Women in Nagrota

Jammu, Oct 6 (KNS): In a major step toward women empowerment and rural entrepreneurship, Devyani Rana, Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), on Monday launched “Gau Shakti Floor Cleaner” — an eco-friendly, organic cleaning product made by women from the Nagrota constituency.

The product, developed from natural cow-based ingredients, combines traditional knowledge with modern enterprise and aims to promote self-reliant rural industries in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the launch, Rana said the initiative goes beyond introducing a product. “This is not just about a cleaner — it’s about empowering women to become self-reliant, confident, and active contributors to our society’s progress,” she said.

She added that the project supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vocal for Local” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, encouraging sustainable livelihoods through local innovation and collective effort.

Paying tribute to her late father, Devender Singh Rana, she said, “My father dreamt of a prosperous Nagrota where everyone could grow with dignity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelEmpowering women is the foundation of that dream, and I am committed to carrying it forward.”

The Gau Shakti project, led by women’s self-help groups (SHGs), focuses on creating employment and financial independence for rural women. Made using locally sourced cow dung and herbal extracts, the product promotes both hygiene and environmental sustainability.

Rana also praised other successful ventures by Nagrota’s women, including ‘Pooja Sathi’ Dhoop Cones, which are now available on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial spirit in the region.

Later, she interacted with shopkeepers in Nagrota Bazar, discussing small business challenges and highlighting the GST reforms that ease compliance and support traders.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from women entrepreneurs, youth leaders, and locals, who hailed “Gau Shakti” as a symbol of empowerment and progress for Nagrota.
