2887 Kanals 17 Marla's of Horticulture land also under occupation of Defence establishment: Govt

Srinagar, Jan 16 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday revealed the defence establishment in Kashmir valley including that of Ladakh region pay an annual rent of Rs 12.38 crore for the private land under its occupation.
According to the KNS correspondent, in a written reply to MLA Shopian, Mohammad Yousf Bhat, the government has said that in Srinagar defense establishment is paying, 4, 05,765, Budgam, 11964775, Baramullah,3, 06,71,280, Bandipora, 40,89,472, Pulwama, 2,47,71, 022, Anantnag, 1, 24, 57, 839, Kulgam 3, 59, 338, Kupwara, 2, 47, 45, 825, Ganderbal, 18, 78, 793, Shopian, 52, 801, Leh, 41, 04,451, Kargil, 83, 20, 120 for the private land.
The government has also revealed that 2887 Kanals 17 Marla's of Horticulture land is under occupation of Defence establishment.
However the government has said that efforts are being made to identify the alternate land for accommodating the security forces suitably in order to vacate the said Horticulture land from the occupation of said establishments.
The government has said that in pursuance to Jammu and Kashmir Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property Act, 1968, the rentals are being revised after every five years in respect of land under the occupation of Defense Forces, in consultation with the Ministry of Defence. (KNS)
