Handwara, Dec 15 (KNS): A comprehensive Crime and Security Review Meeting was held on Monday at the District Police Office (DPO) Handwara under the chairmanship of DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), to assess policing performance and strengthen law and order in the region.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including SP PD Handwara Sahil Sarangal (IPS), ASP PD Handwara Fayaz Hussain (JKPS), SDPO Handwara Faisal Hussain (JKPS), Dy.SP DAR Handwara Shafeeq Ahmad, Dy.SP PC Kralgund Shri Raghav Choudhary (JKPS), Dy.SP (SO to DIG NKR) Shri Azad Ahmad, Dy.SP (Prob.) Vikram Choudhary, besides all SHOs and DOs of Police District Handwara. Officers and staff from RPHQ Baramulla and DPO Handwara were also present.
During the meeting, SP PD Handwara presented a detailed review of crime disposal, highlighting progress in general crime cases with special focus on sensitive matters registered under the UA(P)A and NDPS Acts. He also briefed the DIG on challenges faced in timely investigations and steps taken to improve case disposal.
DIG NKR reviewed the status of under-investigation cases discussed in the previous crime meeting and laid special emphasis on clearing pending cases to enhance efficiency and accountability.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe directed officers to complete investigations within prescribed timelines and ensure 100 percent FSL visits to strengthen evidence in all cases.
The DIG stressed mandatory use of e-Sakshya in all FIRs, timely execution of summons and warrants, and use of the MedLeaPR digital portal for obtaining medical reports. He also instructed officers to ensure quick disposal of Zero FIRs and e-FIRs, promote best investigation practices, and motivate investigating officers to maintain high professional standards.
Emphasizing security and law and order, DIG NKR called for strict implementation of instructions on the ground. He urged officers to take proactive steps against drug hotspots posing a threat to youth, ensure speedy grievance redressal, and maintain discipline and institutional integrity at all levels.
In his concluding remarks, DIG NKR expressed satisfaction over the overall progress but urged officers to further intensify efforts to combat crime, enhance public safety, and strengthen police-public relations. He reiterated the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police towards transparent, accountable, and people-friendly policing to build lasting public trust.(KNS)
