DG Fire & Emergency services visits families of deceased fire fighters

Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNS): V.K. Singh-IPS, Director General Fire & Emergency Services J&K paid a visit to the families of the two deceased fire fighters of Fire & Emergency Services J&K namely Firdous Ahmed Bhat, Driver No.181 resident of Y.K. Pora, Qazigund, Kulgam and Fayaz Ahmed Parray, Selection Grade Fireman No.1571 resident of Village Chandyan Pajan, Kulgam who sacrificed their lives while on duty when a snow avalanche hit Fire & Emergency Station Jawahar Tunnel (North Portal) on February 7th, 2019. He expressed heartfelt condolence with the families to deceased fire fighters and assured them that their SRO cases and other departmental benefits shall be looked into on priority basis. Besides, he will expedite all necessary documentation so that the ex-gratia relief and other financial benefits are provided to the next of kins within shortest possible time.
Singh also visited the spot where the incident had taken place and appreciated the rescue operation conducted by various agencies i.e. SDRF, JKP, NDRF, Fire & Emergency Services besides local inhabitants. He further assured the Fire Service Personnel who had a narrow escape in this incident to provide them every kind of help. He was accompanied by SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh Mehta, Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services Command Srinagar Bashir Ahmed Shah and local CRPF Commandant Sawant Jha. (KNS)
