Srinagar, September 30 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing development and restoration works at Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura and reviewed the progress of the project aimed at preserving the historic spring at the site.

During the visit, the DC took stock of various components of the project and stressed the need to preserve the heritage and aesthetic character of the historic spring while carrying out the development works.

Officials informed the DC that the project has been allotted at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore. The works include desilting of the pool area, dry boulder stone pitching on the floor bed, construction of a peripheral block with Devri stone tile cladding and installation of ornamental grills around the pool area.

The project also includes reconstruction and realignment of the deck area and steps of the spring using Devri stone, construction of ornamental gates in Devri stone and installation of ornamental lamp posts around the pool area for illumination.

Labroo directed the concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of the works while strictly adhering to prescribed quality standards. He also stressed the need to maintain the original character and heritage value of the site.

The DC called for coordinated efforts among all concerned departments to ensure that the restoration and development works are executed in a systematic, sustainable and aesthetically appropriate manner.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the visit, Labroo interacted with members of the Management Committee of Jenab Sahib Soura and local residents and listened to their developmental demands. The residents expressed gratitude for the ongoing developmental works in the area, particularly those being undertaken at the shrine.

Responding to demands raised by local residents and traders, the DC directed the concerned authorities to facilitate installation of an ATM at Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura to provide greater convenience to residents, devotees and traders.

He also reviewed various road and water improvement projects in the area and directed the executing agencies to complete the remaining works within the stipulated timeframe.

The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, IAS Probationer Sai Kiran, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineer R&B Suhail Rashid, Executive Engineer KPDCL-4 Nissar Ahmad, Executive Engineer KPDCL-3 Abrar Hussain, Tehsildar Eidgah Mohammad Iqbal Zargar, Administrator Jenab Sahib Soura and other concerned officers.(KNS)
