Srinagar, Aug18 (KNS): In view of the inclement weather forecast, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Akshay Labroo, on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the DC Office Complex to assess preparedness of concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner/CEO DDMA Srinagar Aadil Fareed, Director Meteorological Centre Mukhtar Ahmad, SP Headquarters Umar Shah, Joint Commissioner SMC Nuzhat Khurshid, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineers of R&B, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, I&FC, besides all Tehsildars, Block Development Officers and other officers of concerned departments.
At the outset, the DC stressed the need for utmost coordination among line departments to ensure a robust disaster mitigation plan for swift response to any exigent situation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe directed officers to mobilize men and machinery on ground, particularly at vulnerable spots, to prevent loss of lives and property.
Labroo emphasized round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable areas and timely dissemination of information to the public to keep them updated on the evolving situation. He urged departments to remain on alert mode and maintain close liaison with local communities, field staff and police to strengthen ground-level communication.
The DC also called for preemptive action, instructing officials to keep their ground staff alert well in advance. He reviewed the existing response strategies of line departments and underscored the importance of enhanced coordination to ensure prompt and effective response in case of any emergency. (KNS)
