Budgam, Dec 24 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Bilal Mohideen Bhat, on Wednesday said that the district administration has approved major restoration and relief measures following flood-related damage to infrastructure in Chadoora and Panzan, with works worth nearly ?6 crore sanctioned.

Speaking to reporters as per KNS, Dr Bhat said the bridge at Chadoora suffered significant damage during the floods, including the tilting of its middle abutment. A technical inspection was carried out, and a preliminary report has been submitted by the NIT team, on the basis of which further corrective measures will be finalized in the coming days.

To mitigate public inconvenience and traffic disruption, the DC said the damaged bridge has been temporarily closed to prevent further deterioration. As an immediate alternative, approval has been granted for launching a temporary railway/valley bridge downstream, with ?33 lakh sanctioned through the district administration and SDRF. The work is expected to begin within four to five days.

He said alternate routes, including the bus stop route at Chadoora, have been made functional, while ?38 lakh has been approved for widening the road on the right side to ease traffic congestion in Chadoora town. Additionally, a ?3.25 crore proposal has been submitted for constructing a new road connecting Sumo Stand to Daulatpura, which will act as a long-term solution by introducing a circular traffic flow system.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Dr Bhat said tenders are currently in progress and work will commence shortly after allotment. He emphasized that traffic regulation, emergency services movement, and parking management are being closely monitored on a daily basis.

Highlighting Good Governance Week, the DC said district officers have been directed to conduct door-to-door outreach, grievance redressal camps, and ensure fast-track disposal of pending public services. He noted that several revenue camps held recently have resolved mutations and long-pending cases on the spot.

On employment generation, Dr Bhat said schemes such as HADP and Mission Yuva have provided significant opportunities, with 27,000 applications approved and over 6,000 units established in the district. He urged farmers to take advantage of agriculture-based livelihood schemes to transform farming into a sustainable economic activity.

The DC reaffirmed that the district administration remains committed to resolving infrastructure and public service issues promptly, ensuring minimal inconvenience to residents while long-term solutions are put in place. (KNS)
