Budgam, July 19 (KNS): District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat (IAS), on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Charar-i-Sharief to review ongoing development works, interact with locals, and address public concerns through a Public Darbar at the Town Hall.
The visit began at the revered Charar-i-Sharief Shrine, where the DC inspected heritage conservation and infrastructure projects, including canopy pathways, shrine façade upgradation, lavatory blocks, beautification of Bada Talab, and plans for a new Clock Tower. He said the initiatives aim to preserve the spiritual essence of the town while improving amenities for pilgrims and visitors.
Dr. Bhat also visited Government Degree College Charar-i-Sharief, reviewing progress on an under-construction academic block, adjoining sports field, and other facilities. He urged officials to ensure timely completion and upkeep of sports infrastructure. Inspections were also held at the Zaloosa Filtration Plant, local car parking facility, and Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Charar-i-Sharief, where he directed staff to display free medicine lists and start TSH testing for newborns immediately.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During the Public Darbar, various delegations — including traders, fruit growers, youth forums, and residents — presented demands such as declaring Charar-i-Sharief a Model Town, improving health facilities, creating dedicated parking spaces, upgrading roads, establishing job-oriented courses in the college, and improving water supply and sports facilities.
Dr. Bhat assured the public that all genuine issues would be documented and pursued with the concerned departments. He stressed that development must be people-centric, with active public participation to ensure heritage preservation, youth engagement, and improved services.
“Public Darbars bridge the gap between people and administration, helping us act on-ground realities with greater precision,” the DC said, adding that all ongoing projects would be completed in a time-bound manner.
