Baramulla, Nov 03 (KNS) : Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa today chaired an extensive meeting at the DC Office Meeting Hall to review winter preparedness and mitigation measures across the district. The meeting was convened to ensure all departments remain fully prepared to provide uninterrupted services and respond effectively to any exigencies during the winter season.
During the meeting, the DC directed all line departments to take a vibrant and coordinated approach for comprehensive winter preparedness. He informed that funds have already been released to various departments for the procurement of essential equipment and materials required for snow clearance and emergency response.
The Mechanical Engineering and R&B Departments were directed to ensure the readiness and availability of snow clearance machinery, and to procure additional equipment wherever needed for maintaining road connectivity during snowfall.
The Chief Medical Officer was instructed to ensure adequate stocking of essential and life-saving medicines in all hospitals and health centres.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Power Development Department (PDD) was asked to carry out branch cutting along roads, especially on the Gulmarg–Tangmarg road, to prevent damage to power lines, besides maintaining buffer stock of transformers and allied materials to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. Similar directions were issued to the PHE Department for maintaining an uninterrupted water supply.
The Assistant Director, FCS&CA was directed to ensure adequate availability of ration and proper maintenance of e-PoS machines and other electronic equipment used in distribution depots for smooth public service delivery.
Emphasizing public safety, the DC directed the ARTO and R&B Department to install crash barriers at identified vulnerable spots across the district to prevent road accidents during the winter season.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineers, District Officers, and Engineers from various departments.(KNS)
