Doctors seek reinstatement of President

Srinagar, Nov 17 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) held a meeting of executive members on November 14 at sub-district hospital Kupwara in which reinstatement of DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan was sought.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the members urged government to reinstate DAK President immediately or else they are left with no option but to shut down hospitals across the valley.
Dr Nisar was suspended in May 2014 by previous government for exposing spurious drug scandal in Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, DAK President said “ he was victimized for highlighting the illegal trade of spurious drugs in Kashmir to which many precious lives were lost.”
“In 2013, DAK unearthed a big spurious drug scam,”he informed while addressing the members in the meeting.
In this connection, he said DAK filed a Public Interest Litigation in State High Court in which many people are facing prosecution.
DAK President said his endeavors in this regard should have been applauded, but instead false and frivolous cases were fabricated against him.
He said it is not only his responsibility but duty to stand against the crimes committed on the society.
He added it is his inherent right as a doctor and as a citizen to inform and sensitize the general masses of people about the insidious machination of the powers that be.
Dr Mir Mohd Iqbal Vice-President DAK termed continued suspension of DAK President as unjustified and illegal.
“His suspension has given untold sufferings to his family and patients who were under his treatment and follow up,” he said
Dr Maqbool, senior executive member of DAK said Dr Nisar’s suspension should be immediately revoked so that he resumes his duties that are direly needed for his patients.
DAK Spokesperson Dr Riyaz Ahmad Daga said drug mafia is trying every means to sabotage reinstatement of Dr Nisar. They are spreading canard and trying their best to create a wedge among doctors.
“Each and every doctor is united under the banner of DAK and demand reinstatement of their president earnestly,” he said. (KNS)
