Covid-19 lockdown restrictions return in Kupwara from July 12-14, DC orders

Kupwara, July 11 (KNS): Amid spike in Covid-19 caseloads across J&K, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg on Saturday announced fresh three-day lockdown in the district.

An order copy in possession of KNS reads, “Whereas, the District has seen a sharp rise in the positive cases over the past few days and a few cases have also been reported from the areas outside the containment zones including town areas of Kupwara and Handwara”.

“Whereas Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara vide his No. ADDH/20/12818 Dated- 11-07-2020 has also recommended prohibitory orders”.

Therefore in view of the above, and in exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 CRPC and Section 34 Disaster Management Act, it is hereby ordered that “All the shops in the district including town areas of Kupwara, Handwara and Langate shall remain closed for a period of three days w.e.f July 12 to July 14, 2020”.

Order reads, “There shall be complete restrictions on movement of public transport including Sumo’s and Xylo’s within the District.

Meanwhile concerned Tehsildar’s shall deploy Duty Magistrates at the prominent places within their respective jurisdictions to ensure universal wearing of masks and penalizing offenders as per this office order No. DCK/PS/2020/04/1241-47, dated:- 07-06-2020”.

It also reads,“Superintendent of Police Kupwara Handwara shall deploy special Naka’s and duty personal to restrict movement of any public transport and seize any unauthorized vehicles found plying in violation of this Order. (KNS)
