Continued incarceration of leaders and muzzling political dissent won't change the ground reality: AIP

Srinagar Jan 25 (KNS): Awami Itehad Party today strongly condemned the continued incarceration of its leaders including Party Supremo Er Rashid, who is lodged in Tihar Jail since August 5th last year, a party statement said.

According to the statement issued to KNS, the party top brass slammed the Present day Government for its politics of intolerance and witch-hunt.

“The manner in which Modi led Government wants every pro-people voice in Kashmir behind the bars is not only appalling but shameless to say the least. It is unbecoming of a country which calls itself a democracy to treat common citizens the way it has been done since abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A,” it said.

“ It seems the concept of fundamental rights for Kashmiris doesn't exist in the minds of those occupying chairs of power in New Delh,.” Statement added.

Awami Itehad party demands immediate release of its leaders Advocate Bilal Sultan, Najmus Saqib besides AIP President Er Rashid. The party also lauded the spirit of Sopore Constituency Incharge Advocate Muzzafar Dar who recently was released from Varanasi Jail after being taken into detention post August 5.He was kept in detention under the draconian Public safety act, party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai said in a statement.
