Srinagar, Apr 07 (KNS): Senior National Conference leader and former minister Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan on Sunday alleged that construction of a sports stadium for which 11 crores were transferred into the account of additional deputy commissioner Handwara during Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition government was shelved by the previous PDP-BJP government and a district hospital constructed by the erstwhile NC government was also bulldozed by the previous PDP-BJP government.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Chowdhary Ramzan said the work on a sports stadium was taken up by the erstwhile Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition government when 11 crores were transferred into the account of additional deputy commissioner Handwara for executing the work but the previous PDP-BJP coalition government stopped the work and shelved the project with the promise that a software technology park would be built instead of a sports stadium.

Alleging that neither the software technology park was built nor the work on the sports stadium was restored, the NC leader said, “Similarly the district hospital Handwara constructed by the erstwhile NC government was also bulldozed and virtually there are no Medicare facilities available in the hospital as doctors posted at the hospital refer patients to main referral hospitals of Srinagar city. He alleged that no development work has been taken up or completed in Handwara during last four years and only some MGNREGA works have been executed which is a routine practice. (KNS)
