Congress leader appeals LG admin for safe return of stranded students, laborers

Kupwara, Mar 26 (KNS): Haji farooq Mir President District Congress committee Kupwara Member AICC appealed The Governments of different States and UT’s of India to come to the rescue of Labourers and Students stranded in,
Punjab,Delhi,Jammu ,Himachal Pradesh etc. He has also prayed for the safe return of the stranded Labourers & Students of Kashmir to their homes.
“Deeply concerned that thousands of people are stranded in many Parts of the Country due to Coronavirus Crisis, facing lot of hardships. Scores of Students also stranded in Delhi,Jammu,Chandigarh,having been asked to stay there .Since their are no arrangements in place by the authorities I appeal the Govt,s in J&K,Delhi,Punjab,Himachal and Kudlina to help the stranded Labourers and Students.
Thousands of labourers from different areas of North Kashmir District Baramulla, District Bandipora and District Kupwara ( 01-Karnah,02-Kupwara,03-Lolab,04-Handwara and 05-Langate) are stranded in different states of the country like Utrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Hyderabad ,Delhi,UP and other states. Some labourers from Lolab are also stuck in Jammu and other districts of J&K.They should be immediately contacted by the concern Govt,s in view of the alarming spread of # COVID-19 , the Senior Congress leader Haji Farooq Mir demanded.
Farooq Mir said that as a measure of social distancing and to contain the spread of the virus, the stranded labourers of Lolab and other places of Jammu and Kashmir are facing tremendous difficulties including running short of money outside J&K due to government imposed country wide lockdown.
Under the prevailing circumstances these labourers and Students are the worst-hit because they are dependent on their daily earnings to meet the basic needs. I am told by their families on phone that these labourers and Students are running short of money and cannot sustain for too long away from their homes,” Mir remarked.
Senior Congress leader demanded that J&K government should provide free food grains to the blow poverty line families especially those of labourers, differently able persons, daily wagers, old age pensioners, casual labourers, and other marginalized sections of the society till the situation arising out of COVID-19 is overcome.
While appreciating the local administration for the measures being taken for prevention of Coronavirus spread in whole District Kupwara (North Kashmir)
Farooq Mir said that the government of J&K should ensure availability of free ration including rice, sugar and flour in government depots and fair price shops in the areas so that poor inhabitants of the district are not left craving for essential commodities.
“ The J&K government should also ensure availability of medicines in all hospitals including district, all sub district hospitals, primary health centres and sub centres in districts Kupwara and announce special financial assistance for people in below poverty line category and low-income groups like daily wagers, labourers, street vendors and construction workers in these pressing times,” he demanded further.
