Bandipora, July 24 (KNS) :-Sonawari MLA Hilal Akbar Lone on Thursday said that the Congress party did not seek the support of the National Conference (NC) before demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He added that such a move, without the involvement of NC and broader public support, "does not mean anything on its own."
Lone made the remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to Kulhama village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The area falls under his constituency, and residents have long complained of being ignored by successive administrations.
"The people of Kulhama have been neglected for years.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelI visited the area today and listened to their grievances. I will raise their issues at the highest levels and seek redressal on a priority basis," he said.
During the visit, Lone also discussed the growing concern over inflated electricity bills with the Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD). He said the locals were burdened by “hefty” power charges and urged the department to consider the residents’ poor financial conditions.
"I have conveyed the issue to PDD officials and will also raise it with senior authorities. These people cannot afford such high bills,” he added.(KNS)
