DC says it is under proper permission

Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNS): The authorities in Srinagar have allowed to cut down nearly 10 chinar trees in the campus of Sri Pratap College Srinagar even as government claims to have launched plantation drives across valley.

Students and teachers in the college said that the government has allowed to erase Chinar heritage from Kashmir.

“There is an onslaught by the authorities on Chinar trees from the last many years. Now they are reaching into colleges and educational institutions,” they said.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that is under proper permission. “It is under proper permission,” he said. (KNS)
