New Delhi, Sep 03 (KNS): Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications is organizing India Mobile Congress, 2018, to engage BIMSTEC countries, at least till 2020 as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August this year during the recently concluded ‘fourth BIMSTEC summit’, in Kathmandu.
The first such program will be a mega-event named the India Mobile Congress, 2018.
The statement issued to KNS reads that the event will also host the BIMSTECH ministerial conclave.
Organised along the lines of Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, India Mobile Congress 2018 is the second edition of the biggest Mobile, internet and Technology event in South Asia.
“India Mobile Congress 2017 was a major success with global brands such as Google, Facebook and Huawei, making it an internationally recognised platform. Building on the success of last year’s IMC, this year promises to be bigger and better technology and telecom extravaganza,” the statement said.
The three-day event will be organised at Aerocity, New Delhi between 25th and 27th October. “There will be 21 plenary conference sessions where international global experts will be speaking, an exhibition where global brands will exhibit their latest technologies and services, and an app-prize contest for start-ups and individuals. The event is expected to see a footfall of around 2,50,000 people, participation of around 5000 CXOs from around the world, involvement of 300 exhibitors and conference sessions with 100+ globally recognised industry experts,” the statement added.
“The app-prize contest offers a unique opportunity to individuals and start-ups in India and should definitely be utilised by the people of Kashmir. The platform intends to create a world record by launching around 1000 mobile apps at the same time. The 1000 apps will be shortlisted from the several thousand entries that will be made on the IMC app themes such as networks of the future, smart cities/enterprises, fintech, artificial intelligence, empowerment and enhancing the user experience,” the statement said.
It added that the shortlisted apps will be presented by the Minister for Communication, Government of India to over 2000 global industry stakeholders. “This will result in onsite opportunities for investments, collaborations and acquirements,” the statement added.
