Srinagar, August 13 (KNS): The office bearers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) held a meeting with the Chief Secretary to discuss several pressing public health, environmental, and civic issues affecting people.
During the meeting, the delegation raised serious concerns over the circulation of rotten meat in the market, adulteration in milk and dairy products, and the alarming presence of fake drugs. The members stressed the need for urgent inspection drives and strict enforcement of food and drug safety regulations to protect public health.
Environmental concerns were also brought to the fore, particularly the deteriorating condition of public parks at tourist destinations, many of which have been reduced to dumping yards. The CCIK urged the government to take immediate waste management measures to preserve the natural beauty and tourism potential of the region.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The delegation further highlighted public grievances over the sudden hike in charges for government-owned community marriage halls, which have long served as affordable venues for the middle-class population. They appealed to the authorities to reconsider the decision and restore reasonable pricing to ensure accessibility for all sections of society.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Tariq Ghani (President, CCIK), Mr. Adnan Shah (Secretary General), Mr. Atif Khan (Joint Secretary), Mr. Ashiq Bhat (Chief Coordinator), and Mr. Umar Koul (Media Incharge).
The CCIK expressed hope that the government would take swift and effective measures to address these concerns in the interest of public welfare.(KNS)
