CBI, ACB Arrest Two Public Servants in Srinagar Bribery Sting

 

 
SRINAGAR, Jan 16 (KNS): In a joint operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Srinagar, arrested two public servants on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ?15,000.
 
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the arrested individuals are Muneeb Farooq, a Patwari (revenue official) posted in Halqa Soaf Shali, Kokernag, Anantnag, and Farooq Ahmad Wani, a Chowkidar from the same area who acted as a middleman. They were apprehended red-handed while accepting the cash from a complainant.
 
The case, registered as RC1232026A0001 on January 15, followed a complaint alleging the Patwari had demanded ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel30,000 to process a land demarcation request.
 
Based on the complaint, a CBI team laid a trap. During the operation, both accused were caught while accepting the first instalment of the bribe, amounting to ?15,000.
 
Following their arrest, the accused were presented before a special CBI court, which granted five-day police remand for further investigation.
 
The official added that the investigation is ongoing. (KNS)
