Srinagar, Mar 14 (KNS): Taking a cue from the KNS report on sale of essentials on exorbitant rates by traders in Handwara, the Assistant Director CAPD Kupwara Mudasir Ahmad Wani launched a drive in the main market Handwara and imposed fine on several shopkeepers for selling essentials on exorbitant rates.
Assistant Director CAPD was accompanied by executive officer Habibullah Darzi, Tehsildar Handwara Mohammad Saleem and police officials.
During the market checking, a fine of Rs 28500 was realized from the defaulters.
As per KNS correspondent, locals hailed the CAPD authorities for launching the drive and imposing fine on the traders who had resorted to black marketing and illegal profiteering in the wake of repeated closures of the Srinagar-Jammu highway which resulted in the blocking of essentials during February and 1st week of March.
