Burhan’s third anniversary: Kashmir shuts on JRL’s call, authorities impose restrictions in Srinagar parts, Tral

Srinagar, Jul 08 (KNS): Amid restrictions in parts of Srinagar as well as in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a complete shutdown was on Monday observed across the Valley to commemorate the third anniversary of slain Hizb commander, Burhan Muzaffar wani.

Notably, the shutdown call for today was given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), appealing people to observe shutdown today.

In view of the shutdown call today, the authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar areas and Tral area today to prevent any law and order situation.

Witnesses told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a large contingent of police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on roads today in the restriction bound areas to thwart the protests, if any.

They also said that the roads were blocked by the forces by erecting concertina wires on the roads.

Moreover, all the shops, business establishments, petrol pumps, educational institutes, private offices remained closed while as the traffic was also thin on the roads throughout the day.

It is pertinent to mention here that the mobile internet services were suspended in parts of Kashmir today while as the speed was reduced to 2G in rest of the areas.

Besides, the train services from Baramulla- Banihal were also suspended as security reasons today.

A top police official said that the situation remained peaceful and under control throughout the day. (KNS)
