Books on Juvenile Justice Laws released

Srinagar, Jun 11 (KNS): A two day National Level Conference on “Issues and challenges in ensuring Happy Childhood: A Special Focus on Jammu and Kashmir” organized by Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir, supported by Save the Children started in University of Kashmir.

The Conference is attended by Scholars from all parts of the country who will be presenting their research papers on various child related issued during these two days.

Advisor(G) to the Governor Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, who was Chief Guest on the occasion highlighted the need for integrated approach for upholding the child rights and working in the field of child protection.

In the inaugural session G.A. Sofi, Mission Director, ICPS stressed on the importance of the Juvenile Justice System and achievements of ICPS and initiatives of the Government in this field in the State of J&K.

During the occasion a book titled “Juvenile Justice Law in Jammu and Kashmir” authored by Junaid-ul-Islam, Nodal Officer (Administration), J&K ICPS and Khair-ul-Nisa, JJB Member, Srinagar was released.

In addition, Guidelines for Special Juvenile Police Units compiled by Mr. Junaid-ul-Islam and Guidelines for CCIs compiled by Ms. Khair-ul-Nisa were also released.

The books were released by Advisor(G) to the Governor, Professor Neelofer Khan, acting Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar, University of Kashmir, Professor Ved Kumari, Dean & Head, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, G.A. Sofi, Mission Director, ICPS, Professor Asifa Jan, Dean School of Social Sciences, University of Kashmir, Dr. Mohammad Hussain, Dean & Head, School of Law, University of Kashmir and other academicians present on the occasion.

Advisor(G) to the Governor applauded the contribution of the ICPS in general and authors in particular for their valuable work in the field of Juvenile Justice and making it localised with the system prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
