Begum Khalida challenges Modi on Article 370

Srinagar, Nov 16 (KNS): Begum Khalida Shah, President J&K Awami National Conference (ANC) and wife of former J&K Chief minister late G M Shah, currently has issued a point by point rebuttal to Prime Minister, Home Minister, MoS in PMO to their “misleading and mis representation of facts on the historic events of J&K State and its relationship with the union of India under Article 370,” made on the floor of the parliament during the assembly and discussion on the bill for abrogation of article 370 on or after 5 August 2019.

The 19 pages detailed document dedicated to the people of J&K released from the national capital, claims that the J&K Governor, Legislature, government of India, Parliament and neither the president can amend, repeal or abrogate article 370 nor can the state of Jammu and Kashmir be dismembered into union territories. “The massive majority of people in J&K and Ladakh will never accept abrogation of 370 and there is no connection between terrorism and Article 370, neither between investment and Article 35-A as reported to the Supreme Court by the government of India,” it said.

According to a spokesperson of the ANC the document has been sent to President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, MoS in PMO, heads of all political parties, prominent members of parliament, legal luminaries, civil society members and prominent media personalities of the country.

“The ANC chief has severely denounced the central government policy of turning Kashmir into a police State and the continued confinement of mainstream leadership, civil society members, Kashmir Bar members and Youngsters in thousands including juvenile children. She has demanded they be freed immediately to honor the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution trampled under the guise of National Security in Democratic India and reversal of repressive policies,” he added.
