Be Compassionate, Keep Learning, and Stay Disciplined, Only Then You’ll Be a Good Doctor: Syed Abid Rasheed

Srinagar, Oct 08 (KNS): Secretary Health and Medical Education, Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Abid Rasheed on Wednesday addressed the new MBBS batch at Government Medical College Srinagar, delivering an inspiring message about dedication, compassion, and continuous learning in the field of medicine.

Sharing his personal experience, Syed Abid said he often stood outside the gates of GMC Srinagar during his student days, telling himself that one day he would enter as a doctor. “I used to motivate myself by looking at this college and dreaming to be part of it. Although I could not make it then, it remained one of my biggest regrets,” he said, encouraging students to feel happy, proud, and blessed to be part of the institution.

He told the students that their journey in medicine would be full of challenges but also deeply fulfilling. “From today, you carry a great responsibility to fight disease, save lives, and serve humanity. This journey will transform you completely,” he said as per KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Syed Abid reminded the students that the medical profession is unlike any other and requires empathy, compassion, and lifelong learning. “You must feel the pain of others and never stop learning. Medicine is a lifelong journey of knowledge and service,” he said.

He stressed that academic excellence and professional competence truly shape a doctor’s identity. “You may be talented in music, art, or public speaking, but patients do not seek those qualities. They need a capable and knowledgeable doctor who can treat them with skill and care. From today, your focus should be on learning, discipline, and commitment,” he said.

Syed Abid Rasheed urged the students to remain humble and committed throughout their careers. “What the mind does not know, the eyes do not see. Study hard, stay focused, and serve with compassion,” he said.(KNS)
