BJP leader surrenders personal security, demands security for all BJP activists

Srinagar, May 07 (KNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul on Tuesday while accusing authorities of ‘misleading’ him on slain leader Gul Mohammad Mir’s security, surrendered his personal security in protest and claimed that he was ‘misled’ by authorities about the security of the slain BJP leader in Aanantnag.

Koul led a protest march in Lal Chowk against the withdrawing of security to BJP activists in valley and demanded a suitable security cover to BJP activists immediately.

“I consider myself guilty and responsible for his killing as I sent him to Anantnag after getting assurances that nothing adverse will happen to him,” Koul said during his protest march, adding that he has decided to surrender his personal security henceforth until all the BJP activists were not provided security.

He added that Gul’s killing was condemnable. He said BJP was rapidly extending its footprints in the valley therefore its activists need to be secured from any threat and government must consider providing security to them.

Koul later speaking to media, said that he was not asking for the security of only BJP activists but to all the political activists of other political parties. He added that this is the third such killing of BJP activists in valley, so he thought he cannot keep security for himself when his activists are being killed in the absence of security cover.
