However, once again, the authorities foiled the session by placing the head of the Council under house arrest at his residence, preventing the participants from attending. The Majlis strongly condemned this action and termed it extremely regrettable.

On this occasion, the Mirwaiz in a statement on X said: “Today, once again, I have been placed under strict house detention, and the lanes leading to my residence have been sealed with barbed wire.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said that, as per the program, a meeting of the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulama was to be held today at his residence, which was to be attended by the heads of important religious organisations. The meeting was to deliberate on the concerns arising after the recent Supreme Court verdict on the Waqf Board, as well as pressing social and religious issues such as the supply and consumption of rotten meat and related products in the Valley.

He said that restrictions and curbs on such peaceful activities are nothing but absurd, repeatedly exposing the weakness and insecurity of those who resort to them. Yet it seems that the authorities are still not satisfied even with this.(KNS)
