Attacks on Kashmiris condemnable: Yasin Malik

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday condemned the attacks on Muslims and Kashmiris in Jammu and many parts of India under the pretext of recent Pulwama attack.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said, “Open freedom provided to hooligans by administration in Jammu is highly condemnable. The silence of saner elements, civil society and liberals of Jammu on the hooliganism of chauvinist attacks on Muslims and Kashmiris amounts to criminal attitude of these people. “
Terming the attacks on Kashmiris and Muslims as ‘most reprehensible and act of cowardice’, Malik said that it has been an old practice of fascists in Jammu to stand against Muslims and Kashmiris on every issue and aspect be it social, religious, political or even criminal in nature.
“In 1947, Jammu chauvinists massacred more than three hundred thousand Muslims and changed the demography of that land. With the active support of erstwhile Mahraja and his forces, hooligans besieged thousands of Muslims, massacred, looted and vandalized them and thus changed the demography of Jammu in 1947,” he said.
He said on the other hand, Kashmiris not only safeguarded minorities in Kashmir but provided them shelter and defended religious harmony in Kashmir and even Ghandi Jee acknowledging that gesture of Kashmiri Muslims had to say that if there is any hope for humanity it is in Kashmir.
“In 2008, people of Kashmir raised their voices for an illegal transfer of land to Amarnath Shrine board. It was not an agitation against some religion but against an act that was eroding our basic state subject law. Jammu in retaliation blockaded the main highway, stopping the supply of even baby food, life saving drugs and essential commodities to the valley. Kashmiri drivers and trucks were attacked and many burnt alive,” he said.
He added it was an enough provocation but Kashmiri Muslims reciprocated these venomous acts by sheltering Amarnath Yatrees and tourist, arranging community kitchens for them and escorting them to safety as taught and directed by our religion Islam, holy book Quran and sayings of the last Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Malik said that “Kashmiri Muslims have a history of being non-communal, humane and harmonious and we as a nation have always and in all seasons and weathers protected this humanity and harmony.”
The limit of brazenness of these chauvinists is such that they even followed their inhuman and unethical attitude to protect rapists and killers of innocent Asifa in Kuthua in the name of communal and polity of hatred and unfolding and displaying Indian Flag, he added.
JKLF chairman said that what is more painful is the criminal silence of saner elements, civil society and liberals of Jammu who have always chose to stay silence and in a way abet these acts of hooliganism. “What is happening in Jammu right now is shameful in every respect but what is more pathetic is the behavior of Government administration which is busy in protecting and abetting the hooligans and chauvinist forces attacking Muslims and Kashmiris, torching their vehicles, shops and beating and vandalizing them,” he said.
He said that “Kashmiri Muslims will leave no stone unturned for protecting their Jammu Brethren and other minorities and we want to ask all chauvinists and communal elements to stop this hooliganism immediately as it is in their interest too.”
About attacks on Kashmiris in Bihar, UP, Himachal Pradesh, Bangalore, Delhi, Haryana, Utrakhand and other states, JKLF chairman said that though attacks on Kashmiri students, businessmen, workers, officials working in different institutions under this and that pretext is not new but when these attacks and attackers are backed by rulers and their threat calls, these become more coldhearted and shameful.
JKLF chairman said that “Kashmiris are striving for a just cause and no matter what kind of oppression is unleashed on us by the oppressors; we will never budge from pursuing this path and keep struggling for our right to freedom and self-determination.”
Meanwhile, Malik expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of Ghulam Rasool Dar who was the father of resistance leader incarcerated Farooq Ahmad Dar @Bita Karatay.
It is pertinent to mention that his mother also died recently when he was in Tihar jail and as today at the demise of his father, he was not allowed to participate in funeral prayers of his mother that time too.
Malik along with a delegation comprising of Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Javed Ahmad Zargar, Muhammad Salim Nanaji, Mushtaq Ajmal, Muhammad Yasin Butt and others reached his residence and participated in his funeral prayers. JKLF chairman while praying for his heavenly abode, also prayed for the Sbr-I-Jamil of his bereaved family. (KNS)
