Srinagar Dec 26 (KNS): Apni Party Chief Altaf Bukhari on Friday said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken steps to ensure legal proceedings against those involved in the harassment and intimidation of a Kashmiri shawl seller in Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
In a post on X, Bukhari referred to the response issued by an official of the Ministry of Home Affairs stating that assault on Kashmiri shawl sellers will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said the statement from the Union Ministry was important to address the incident and to convey that such actions fall under the ambit of law.

The Apni Party chief said incidents involving harassment based on identity should be dealt with promptly by authorities to avoid repetition. He said action under law helps maintain order and public confidence.
Bukhari further said that accountability is necessary to prevent individuals or groups from acting outside the legal framework. He added that the safety of citizens and continuation of lawful business activities should remain a responsibility of the authorities.(KNS)
