Says BJP Will Support Restoration of Statehood

Srinagar, August 10(KNS): Ashok Koul, the State General Secretary (Organization) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, said the BJP has launched a nationwide program titled Gar-Gar Tiranga and Tiranga Yatra.

He said the party will organize Tiranga Yatra in every constituency and spread the national flag to as many houses as possible. He said party workers will participate in government programs on August 15 and also carry the flag in their own local areas.
Koul said the BJP is running this program across the country and the government is also conducting Tiranga Yatra and Gar-Gar Tiranga. He said the Lieutenant Governor will lead a Tiranga Yatra on August 12 in Kashmir from two locations.
He said he had seen a large advertisement about the yatra in the newspaper. He also said the Tiranga Yatra is being held for all BJP workers. He said a Tiranga Yatra has been organized today in Gandharval after a workshop, and BJP workers will participate in that yatra as well.

He said the aim is to carry the national flag through the bazaars of Gandharval and spread the pride of the country. He also said that while the BJP is holding this yatra, the Congress has announced an 11-day hunger strike. He said there should be a conversation with the National Congress about the issue of statehood.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have stated that statehood will be given at the right time. He added that it is not for others to decide, and the decision will be taken by senior leaders of the party.

Koul said there is a question about what kind of statehood is to be given — whether that of a Chief Minister or that of an MP — and that this needs to be decided first. He said once that is decided, the rest will become clear.
He said there is no question of Article 370 or 335 in the discussion.

He added that these provisions are not coming back and that even if the National Conference or Congress speak about it, the government will not consider their return.

He said the BJP government will support restoration of statehood. He also said that while some are not asking for statehood but for what was lost in 2019, that is a mistake. He said those demands will not be fulfilled.

On rumours of Jammu being separated, Koul said there is nothing like that. He said if the intention was to separate Jammu, it would have been done at the time Ladakh was separated. He said such rumours are baseless.(KNS)
