SRINAGAR, JAN 11 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that artisans serve as Kashmir's "living ambassadors," carrying forward the valley's centuries-old traditions and timeless crafts.
During the calendar launch event organised by the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated, according to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), “This calendar is an ode to the artisans who weave, carve, and colour Kashmir’s soul.”
He said the artisans’ hands carry forward centuries-old traditions, transforming raw materials into masterpieces that reflect the spirit, resilience, and rich cultural heritage of the Valley. “Our craftsmen are not just creators of art; they are the living ambassadors of Kashmir’s timeless legacy,” he added.
He described the calendar as a visual tribute celebrating the timeless craft traditions of Kashmir.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Director of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir Mussarat Islam, Joint Director of Handicrafts Deeba Khalid, Deputy Director of Handicrafts Mirza Shahid Ali, along with other senior officers, were present on the occasion.
The 2026 calendar showcases an exquisite range of traditional crafts, including Namda, Kani shawl, Papier-mâché, wood carving, Sozni embroidery, carpet weaving, Wagguv, and copperware. Each frame narrates a story of skills passed down through generations. (KNS)
