‘Come together for demanding revival of Constituent Assembly’

Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNS): Awami National Conference (ANC) leader and president Muzaffar Shah said that Article 35-A is like an irrevocable power of attorney and its can only be debated in the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to KNS correspondent, addressing a press conference here, Shah said that majority in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are together today together on the issue of Article 35-A.
“Mainstream parties got together and separatists are voicing the same concerns,” Shah said adding that “our citizenship rights will be affected if the article is scrapped.
“The article is like an irrevocable power of attorney. The best place to debate it is the Constituent Assembly. My request to mainstream leaders, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and revered Geelani is to support and come together for demanding revival of Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir which has powers as big as Parliament of India,” he said.
“Our legislature does not have the power to deal with such items. Only Constituent Assembly has the powers and to revive that we have to go again to the people to seek votes for that.
He said that the attempts and statements are being reiterated since 1952 by, first by Jana Sangh, and now BJP for scrapping and eroding Article 370. (KNS)
