New Delhi, Sep 16 (KNS) Chief of Army Staff General Dheeraj Seth on Wednesday embarked on a three-day official visit to Russia aimed at further deepening the long-standing defence partnership and military cooperation between the two countries.
The visit, from September 16 to 18, comes amid continued momentum in India-Russia defence engagement.
During the visit, Gen Seth will be accorded a formal Guard of Honour and will pay homage to fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, the Army said in a statement.
He is scheduled to hold talks with Colonel General Andrey Nikolayevich Mordvichev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, on issues of mutual interest, including military cooperation and training.
The Army Chief will also visit the National Defence Control Centre in Moscow and meet senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defence, including Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Sergeyevich Osmakov, who oversees matters related to the defence industry and procurement.

Officials said the meetings will provide an opportunity to exchange views on current military developments and explore avenues for enhancing defence cooperation.
As part of the visit, Gen Seth will travel to Saint Petersburg, where he will visit the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy and interact with its leadership and faculty.
The Army described the visit as reflective of the importance both countries attach to sustained military diplomacy and mutual military engagement, expressing hope that the talks would deepen military cooperation and strengthen long-term defence ties between India and Russia. (KNS).
