Amid spikes in Covid-19 cases, govt imposes weekend restrictions in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNS): The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday ordered complete restriction on non-essential movement on weekends in the entire Union Territory amid rise in Covid-19 cases.

According to an order issued by State Executive Committee, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), there shall be complete restriction on non-essential movement on weekends in the entire UT.

As per the order, the measure has been taken to minimise transmission of Covid-19 and prevent its further spread.

Notably, on Friday Jammu and Kashmir reported highest number of Covid-19 positive cases of 2456 with 1522 in Kashmir division and 934 in Jammu division.

The order also stated that there shall be no in-person teaching in colleges, schools, ITIs, polytechnic colleges and coaching centres in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
