Kulgam, July 7 (KNS): As a severe heatwave grips the Kashmir Valley, patients and their attendants at District Hospital Kulgam are facing extreme discomfort due to the lack of cooling facilities in the hospital’s old building. The centralized air conditioning system is defunct, and there are no working fans or proper ventilation, making conditions inside the wards unbearable—especially for elderly patients and children.
With temperatures soaring, the absence of basic amenities like air conditioning and drinking water has raised serious concerns about patient safety and hospital readiness.
Senior BJP leader Zubair Ahmad Ganie visited the hospital on Monday and expressed concern over the situation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The lack of basic facilities in a functioning hospital is deeply concerning. Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Masood confirmed that the hospital is currently undergoing renovation and assured that the cooling systems and other infrastructure will be restored soon.
Meanwhile, local residents have appealed to Health Minister Sakina Itoo, the health department, and the district administration to intervene immediately. The situation has once again brought attention to the fragile state of healthcare infrastructure in the region, especially during extreme weather conditions.(KNS)
