Amar Singh College Hosts Blood Donation Awareness Programme on World Blood Donor Day

Srinagar, June 14 (KNS): To mark World Blood Donor Day 2025, the Red Ribbon Club and Health Care and Wellness Committee of Amar Singh College, Srinagar, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on Blood Donation, aiming to educate students on the importance of voluntary blood donation and foster a spirit of compassion and civic duty among youth.

The event was anchored by student volunteers Aazim Sheraz and Nida Shakeel, who conducted the proceedings with confidence and professionalism.

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Hina Kouser Qadri, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club. She emphasized the role of students in saving lives through blood donation and highlighted the need to nurture a generation committed to empathy and social responsibility.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, Principal of Amar Singh College, delivered a special address in which he praised the organizing team and underlined the value of such initiatives in building a health-aware and responsible student body. He called blood donation an act of humanity and urged students to take part in such meaningful programmes.

The session featured two key guest speakers from the medical field.
Dr. Mudasir Nabi, Medical Officer from the Health & Medical Education Department, spoke about the health benefits, safety protocols, and common misconceptions around blood donation, encouraging students to become regular donors.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He was followed by Dr. Feroz, Consultant Physician at J&K Police Hospital, Batamaloo, who shared real-life examples of lives saved through timely donations and emphasized how blood donation also benefits the donor's health.

Student speakers Peerzada Naveed Ahmad, Amana Muzaffar, Arosa Khan, and Tashif Amin delivered heartfelt speeches on the importance of awareness, empathy, and youth participation in blood donation drives. Their contributions highlighted the increasing sense of social responsibility among students.

A certificate distribution ceremony was held to honor the efforts of speakers, volunteers, and participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Sabeena Rasool, Convenor of the Health Care Committee, who appreciated everyone’s dedication and support in making the event a success.

The programme proved to be an informative and inspiring initiative that not only raised awareness but also motivated students to contribute to life-saving causes.
