Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS): Expressing deep shock and grief over his demise, Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today described Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dar as a veteran political activist who shall always be remembered for his significant contribution in the socio-economic empowerment of his area.
Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dar, 85, a veteran political activist and a long time associate of PDP founder, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away after a brief illness yesterday evening at his residence in Rawalpora. The deceased is father of Nazir Ahmad Dar, PDP Ward President (Rawalpora).
In his condolence message, Bukhari highlighted the role of deceased in upliftment of inhabitants of Rawalpora and its adjacent areas particularly those belonging to the downtrodden and underprivileged sections of the society.
Recalling the personal and political life of the deceased, Bukhari termed Late Dar as a gentle and noble soul who had a vast social base comprising of people of different shades of opinion and belonging to all walks of life.
“Late Dar Saheb will be remembered as one of the gentle personalities of his area who had witnessed important political developments in Kashmir. His demise has created a void hard to be filled,” Bukhari remarked.
He said that Late Dar was very popular for his humanitarian, Philanthropic etiquettes and socialization with people belonging to different shades of opinion which will surely be seen as a huge loss for the society.
“Everybody who knew him is saddened by the loss of Late Dar Saheb. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at such a difficult time. I am grateful to have known him as a close associate of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Saheb and later his personal association with me during my elections,” he observed.
Bukhari prayed for an eternal peace to the departed soul and endurance for the family and friends of the deceased to bear this irreparable loss. On the directions of Bukhari, a delegation of the noted PDP activists of Amirakadal constituency led by Zone President Mohammad Ashraf Dar visited the residence of the deceased to extend condolences to the bereaved family.
