Altaf Bukhari condoles demise of Prof Hamidi Kashmiri

Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): Former finance minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Professor Hamidi Kashmiri, former vice chancellor of University of Kashmir, who passed away late last night.
Describing the deceased as one of the great scholars who lived a very simple life, Bukhari said the contribution of Prof Hamidi in the field of literature, poetry and prose shall be remembered for times to come.
He said the deceased was an illustrious son of the soil, who carved a niche in the field of literature as a great Urdu critic and earned a distinctive place outside the state as well.
He said that Prof Hamidi’s literary genius was recognized by the country by honouring him with many awards including Ghalib Award, Sahitya Akademi Award and the third highest civilian award of Padma Shri.
“As an administrator Late Prof. Hamidi sahib shall be remembered for his reforms in education during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir,” the former finance minister said.
While expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, his friends and acquaintances, Bukhari prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. (KNS)
