New Delhi, Sept 20 (KNS): Anjuman Interfaith Dialogue Chapter’s Secretary, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, attended a two-day Conference on Combating Hate Crimes and Hate Speech, organised by the prestigious People’s Union for Civil Liberties at Jawahar Bhawan Auditorium in New Delhi.

While addressing the conference, Aga Muntazir said, “We gather here, at this crucial Conference on Communal Harmony, not merely as representatives of different communities, but as a collective conscience. As the Secretary of the Anjuman Interfaith Dialogue Chapter in Jammu & Kashmir, I have seen firsthand the delicate, beautiful tapestry of human relationships and have also witnessed how easily its threads can be frayed by hatred. Our presence in this auditorium is a testament to our shared commitment to mend that fabric.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He further said, “Yet, we are confronted with a rising tide of hate that threatens to drown this legacy. We see a disturbing surge in hate speech, both online and offline, which deliberately targets minorities and seeks to poison the wells of trust between communities. This is not mere rhetoric; it is a corrosive acid that eats away at our social cohesion. Hate speech dehumanizes its victims, creating a fertile ground where prejudice flourishes and violence becomes tragically normalized.”

Aga Muntazir urged the people of India to initiate dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who he said are the primary casualties of hate speech and dehumanisation, and to play a role in the restoration of their dignity and political rights.(KNS)
