Event is aimed to instill desire of peace among youth: Army

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Days after top Bollywood singer Adnan Sami’s Union Home Ministry sponsored Musical Concert, Army is now organising a "Youth Mela" where Bollywood singer Lucky Ali is set to perform here at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake.
The event is scheduled on Saturday (Oct 21).
The event is being organised by the Srinagar based Chinar Corps of Indian Army, said Army in a statement to KNS. “It is aimed to enhance engagement with youth and instill a desire of peace,” Army said.
Army said several events are being organised to provide an opportunity to show case better options. The theme for the Mela is "TOGETHER WE CAN — WE WILL".
According to Army, in addition to singing, painting and group dance competitions the event will include melodious live performance by Bollywood Lucky Ali.
As part of the adventure activities Chinar Corps this year is also introducing `Chinar Shikara Cup' at Dal Lake and 'Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) Expedition' from Bandipora to Srinagar for the youth.
Apart from performance and competitions, the Youth Mela will also offer career counseling for the students.
The Army said this will provide youth an insight into choosing a future in the fields of Defence Services, Information Technology & higher studies in India or abroad. Army Recruitment Office, National Cadet Corps, Scouts and Guides, J&K University and many HR Companies alongwith various banks will establish stalls during the Youth Mela. The popular events of 'Voice of Kashmir' and 'Youth channel of FM-92.8' have also been invited to participate in the Youth Mela.
“The Srinagar Youth Mela is an initiative by the Chinar Corps to motivate and encourage the youth to plan their future and choose a path to redeem their dreams. Attractive prizes will also be given to the winners and refreshments for all are also being catered for,” said the Army spokesperson in a statement. (KNS)
