Srinagar, Jul 14 (KNS): In this competitive age, education does not mean only to pass academic examination; but the students should be made able to sit in the National and International Level Competitive Examinations. This was stated by Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie during his surprise inspection of various Government Schools in Srinagar.
During the visit Advisor interacted with students and teachers and also took stock of the teaching learning process. He said it is important to understand that the competition is not only at country level but also at an international level, “so we have to make our students ready for competition at international level and for this our quality of teaching and learning has to improve substantially”. He added that this is an era of competition, everything, even jobs can be achieved through competitions only and our focus should be to prepare our students for competitions.
The Advisor on the occasion stressed on improving of both teaching and learning process in schools and said, “Education is a two way process, when quality of teaching is improved, quality of learning will also improve”.
He said that we should make every effort to develop scientific temperament among the students so that the goal of making students able to sit and succeed in the Competitive Examinations is accomplished. Laying emphasis on capacity building of teachers he said, “Knowledge is not stagnant so I think there is need of capacity building of teachers both in schools as well as colleges level”. He added that interaction and training among teachers is necessary and this will help us in improving our learning out comes.
In this connection Advisor directed Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo to submit a proposal for the capacity building programmes for the students and teachers through National and International Exposure visits.
The Advisor also directed all the concerned officers to make sure the effective implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the Education sector so that the students are directly and timely benefitted. He said there are new schemes from GoI, the implementation of them is also necessary because the sole aim of these schemes is to improve quality of teaching and learning which will in turn help in improving learning outcomes.
Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie visited library and various classes in many schools and interacted with teachers and students to assess the quality of teaching learning process in schools.
He was also given briefing about the academic activities, conduct of examinations, and attendance of students by the school in charges. (KNS)
