Srinagar Jan 7 (KNS) : : Continuing the developmental journey of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on wednesday dedicated several new infrastructural facilities to the public at the historic shrine of Peer Dastgir (RA) in Khanyar, Srinagar.

The inauguration ceremony, held within the shrine premises, marked the opening of the newly constructed Administrative Block, Imam Residential Quarters, and an Open Ablution Facility. Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Hussain accompanied the Chairperson on the occasion. Senior officers of the civil administration and engineering wings were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi said that multiple developmental initiatives have been undertaken at the revered shrine over the past three years as part of the Board’s larger reform and transformation agenda. She stated that after freeing shrine management from political interference, a new era of transparent governance and sustained development has begun across Jammu & Kashmir.

“People are witnessing the effective utilization of Waqf resources for construction, development and up-gradation across all sectors of the Board. Our shrines have now emerged as centres of spiritual solace as well as places of exceptional beauty, equipped with modern and essential facilities for devotees,” she said.

Team J&K Waqf is working round the clock to enhance facilities at all spiritual centres under its control across the Union Territory,” she added.

Among those present at the inauguration were Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad and other officials.

Later in the day, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi chaired a comprehensive Meraj-e-Aalam preparedness review meeting with representatives of the district administration and allied departments. Stressing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, the Waqf Chairperson called for seamless arrangements to facilitate devotees during the auspicious occasion.

A detailed roadmap was chalked out to ensure effective service delivery, including traffic management, sanitation, water supply, healthcare, power supply and transport facilities. Dr. Andrabi assured that the Waqf Board is fully prepared to provide all necessary amenities and will work in close coordination with line departments to ensure smooth and satisfactory arrangements at all major ziyarats.

The meeting was attended by SP Hazratbal Hilal Ahmad, SDM Zubair Ahmad, DySP Traffic Mehmoob-ul-Haq, DySP Hazratbal Showkat Ahmad Beig, General Manager SRTC, Executive Engineer Water Works Aijaz Rafiq, BMO Dr. Majid, AEE PDD Masroor Hussain, Sanitation Officer SMC Mudasir Banday, and officers and officials from various departments.(KNS)
