Abolish interview system for appointment of medical officers: DAK

Demands fast track recruitment should only be done based on academic merit

Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today on Friday held a meeting where in various issues regarding peripheral health care delivery system were discussed. There are large numbers of primary health care centres in state almost covering the whole population of state as described in framed health care standards, but there is no denial to the fact that due to human resources crunch, non availability of Allopathic Medical Officers especially in far flung areas has resulted in mushrooming of quacks, imposters and fraudsters which are constant threat to human lives and have increased the human morbidities to enormous threatening levels. Moreover, tremendous work load on existing staff has fatigued the staff and has decreased the actual efficiency of said doctors.
As per the evolving reports, the state government is contemplating to refer around 1000 posts of medical officers to public service commission to recruit them on fast track basis. DAK demands that said fast track recruitment should only be done based on academic merit and written test and interview system of the meritorious students must be abolished henceforth.
Obviously abolishing hectic interview process will keep meritorious list devoid of political interference and selection of medical officers will be possible on fast tract basis, which in long way will argument rural health care delivery system and will bring uniformity in system. Free health at doorsteps is basic fundamental right of people and health for all, free drugs and free lab tests must be our slogan’s. Need to augment the primary health care at the earliest. (KNS)
