Srinagar, October 8 (KNS): A high-level meeting of the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) was held today under the chairmanship of Mr. Ishtiyaq Qadri, Chairman of the Political Affairs Committee. The meeting was attended by Vice President Adv G. N. Shaheen, Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, State Secretary Sheikh Ashiq, General Secretaries Nazir Ahmad Khan and Prince Parvez, Chairman Parliamentary Affairs Committee & AIP MLA Sheikh Khursheed , Senior Leader Nazir Ahmad Mir, Spokesperson Firdouse Baba and Secretary Finance Parvez Ahmad Bhat.

AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that during the meeting, the leadership held a detailed discussion on the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“It was suggested that AIP will explore the possibility of fielding its own candidate for the Rajya Sabha,” he said, adding that the Parliamentary Affairs Committee has been entrusted with finalizing the modalities, formalities and procedural requirements.

Inam Un Nabi further said that the Political Affairs Committee also deliberated on the forthcoming bye elections for Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies. “After extensive discussion, it was decided that AIP will contest on both the seats. The announcement of candidates for these constituencies will be made very soon,” he added.
