Slams Omar Abdullah for Betraying Students
Srinagar, September 15 (KNS) : Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his government for failing to act on the Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) report on reservations, despite repeated promises to open merit and address students’ grievances.
In a statement issued, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said, “When Omar Abdullah's party took power, they made tall promises: revisit the reservation policy, ensure fairness for open merit students and resolve the issues within six months. That time has passed. Thousands of students remain betrayed. The CSC report was finalised on June 10, but instead of implementing it, the government has merely sent it to the Law Department, hiding behind procedural delays. This is not governance—it is procrastination dressed as policy.”
Inam said, “If legal opinion was so crucial, why was it not initiated from the start? Why promise a six-month resolution and then stall at every step?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe students who trusted you have not forgotten your words. The silence from many NC leaders when this issue could have been resolved reveals where their priorities are.”
Inam added that the matter cannot be brushed aside any longer. “It is very important to ask: first they promised that the reservation policy issue will be addressed within six months, then they constituted a Sub-Committee, then they shifted it to the Law Department—now what is the status? When is the Omar Abdullah government going to do justice with open merit/general category aspirants and students?”
Calling the delay unacceptable, Inam warned that repeated betrayals erode public trust. “You cannot keep delaying justice. Promises without delivery are dangerous—they erode trust and create anger. Omar-led government must stop this theatre, release the report publicly and implement its recommendations now. Enough of excuses”.(KNS)
