ACB Files Chargesheet Against Ex-ZEO Tangdhar, 3 Others in Scholarship Scam

Srinagar, July 3 (KNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a chargesheet against four former education officials, including the then ZEO Tangdhar Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, in an alleged misappropriation of ?8.30 lakh scholarship funds meant for Pahari-speaking and Gujjar-Bakerwal students during 2010–11.

As per the investigation, the accused allegedly added over 750 fictitious names to the scholarship disbursement registers under a criminal conspiracy and fraudulently withdrew the funds. They also allegedly misled the then MLA Tangdhar and Member Advisory Board into signing utilization certificates.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

One of the accused, Junior Assistant Mohammad Ashraf Paswal, is alleged to have received ?5 lakh directly into his personal bank account, later withdrawn in ten instalments. He is already facing trial in a disproportionate assets case.

The chargesheet was presented before the Addl. Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Baramulla. All accused were produced in custody and later released on personal bond. The next hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2025.(KNS)
