Srinagar, Jun 2 (KNS); The 8th Central Pay Commission on Tuesday held a detailed interaction with a delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Retired Accounts Personnel Welfare Forum here, discussing key demands including revision of fitment factor and One Rank One Pension (OROP) for civil pensioners.
The delegation, led by Forum President M S Zahid, submitted a comprehensive memorandum to the Commission’s Chairman and senior officials, highlighting the unique geographical and socio-economic challenges faced by pensioners in the Union Territory.
“The Commission devoted considerable time to our presentation and examined our concerns with seriousness and sensitivity. We are hopeful that genuine issues of pensioners, particularly those residing in J&K, will receive due consideration,” Zahid said after the meeting.

Major demands raised by the forum include revision of fitment factor to 3.833, implementation of OROP for civil pensioners, additional pension at five-year intervals from age 65, enhancement of Fixed Medical Allowance to ?3,000 per month for those in non-CGHS areas, universal CGHS coverage in J&K, and reduction of pension commutation recovery period from 15 to 11 years.
The delegation also included Senior Vice President Mohd Altaf Hussain and Senior Executive Member Shakir Hussain.
The Commission accorded a patient hearing to the representatives and sought clarifications on various proposals, the forum said in a statement. (KNS)
