7 years on, health centre in Budgam village yet to be made functional

Beerwah, May 29(KNS): While the government is strengthening the healthcare system across Kashmir valley, the Primary Health Centre in Chewdara Beerwah central Kashmir’s Budgam district has not been made functional yet for patients even after seven years.

 

Residents of Chewdara village said that the construction work On this was completed in 2016.

Mohammad Maqbool, a resident of Chewdara village, told Kashmir News Service(KNS), that the PHC has still not been made functional for patients.

 

“The government has spent a huge amount of money on the construction of the PHC, but it could not give any kind of relief to the people in terms of access to health care,” he said.

 

According to Maqbool, the village has a population of nearly 2,500 people, who are facing difficulties as there is no other health care facility in the village.

 

“The patients are getting their treatment in the sub-district hospital Beerwah or during Emergency they move to Srinagar hospitals,” he said.

 

Ghulam Hassan ,another villager, said that we have already taken up this matter with concern higher up but they did not make it functional till today.

 

Now it is our request to L.G sir as well as district administration to have a look in this matter and make it functional so that we cannot suffer any more, he added.(KNS).
